Antique WC Shinn Weathervane Blue globe Horse Lightning Rod 1890's  A Weathervane ornament and pole of good quality and  would be  a nice accent for indoor decor  or your garden.  Add enchantment to your home   with   old patina. Nice, Late 1890's original W C Shinn weather vane with a   4 ½  inch blue glass ball and an arrow--Lincoln, NE

Arrow,(on top) 21  1/2" long 
Copper Hollow tube about 5 feet  tall  with nice point finial 
Blue ball says, "W.C. Shinn, Lincoln, Neb." 4 1/2"  diameter
Horse-metal  10   1/2"  by  8" high, not attached.
THIS IS A HARD TO FIND W.C. SHINN LIGHTNING ROD VICTORIAN WEATHERVANE.
It is with nice old  patina and  elegant in form and design  and  the kind of
art that designers  would love  as  a one-of-a-kind look to their  home decor.
IT IS MARKED ON  THE  GLOBE  WITH THE TRADE MARK LETTERS.
CONDITION: IT   IS NEED OF SOME REPAIR  ON THE WEATHERVANE HORSE-NO CRACKS OR OTHER DAMAGE TO THE BALL OR THE VANE. Good condition  with  some minor   age blemishes. For its age  I find  any  "imperfection" as a part of its character and  look is  attractive as is for an architectural appointment- Needs  a  good cleaning  to show its   beauty.

Provenance: This is one part of this Southern Antique collector's possessions
who as the old homes were destroyed  back in the 1930's- 1950's, this collector carefully salvaged the old mantles and stored in for more than half of a century. The Newspaper article said."Maybe the collector didn’t even remember where it was stored or why he had saved it all those years. Maybe just because he liked it , with no use in mind. But the fact remains that, in depths of the Great Depression when the decorative features of razed residences might be had, at least, for carting them away at most, for a song. This collector did a lot of singing! His acquisitions, in any event are incorporated today in some of the old south’s pretentious homes. He owned many old homes here and as they were torn down --he managed to salvage much of the fencing , marble mantles, brass door knobs..etc..
